The Lifetime network has always been looking for a hit program. Luckily, it got such a program when its original drama ‘Army Wives’ premiered in June 2007. Since its premiere, which was the highest-rated series premiere in Lifetime’s twenty-three year history, the show has continued to become more and more successful.

Its second season just finished in November, and a third season is planned for next summer. The program, which concerns the lives of four women whose husbands are away in the army, features, among others, Kim Delaney (of ‘NYPD Blue’), Catherine Bell (of ‘Jag’) and Brian McNamara (of many television shows, including ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ and ‘Seinfeld’). The program, besides focusing on the titular ‘army wives’, also includes an ‘army husband’, whose wife is away in the army, so as to present both sides of the issue.

Such a program as ‘Army Wives’ is successful because of how it presents this side of the issue of the war and army activity. Rarely do we as Americans get a chance to appreciate the emotions and sensitivities that go along with having a wife or husband away in the army fighting in a violent war.

It is undoubtedly a harrowing experience, with each passing day adding to the anxieties of whether or not your loved one will be returning back home or not. Because of how ‘Army Wives’ allows for viewers to be able to see how these kinds of emotions play out, it is an important program for people to watch; this is probably mostly why the program has been so successful and popular since its debut.

‘Army Wives’ is a smash-hit television program for the Lifetime network. Debuting on June 3, 2007, to the highest series premiere ratings in the twenty-three year history of the network, ‘Army Wives’ follows the stories of four women whose husbands are overseas employed in the army.

It also focuses on one ‘army husband’, whose wife is away fighting. The cast includes Kim Delaney of ‘NYPD Blue’, Catherine Bell, formerly of ‘Jag’, and Brian McNamara, whose lengthy list of television credits include ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ and ‘Murphy Brown’, among many others.

The show recently ended its second season in November, and plans for a third season are tentatively set for a June 2009 premiere. The show is far and away Lifetime’s most successful and popular program. ‘Army Wives’ has probably garnered so much positive feedback for the network because of the fact that the show presents a different side of the issues than we are usually accustomed to seeing on television.

Rarely have we been given a snapshot into the emotions that go along with having a husband (or wife) over fighting in the Middle East, but with this program, the emphasis on the loved ones left behind in America provides for an interesting look into the drama that goes on for them. The show is based on the book Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives, so it is at least based in some kind of non-fiction background. ‘Army Wives’ is an important glimpse into a side of the issues we usually are not familiar to seeing, and that is arguably what has helped make it so successful.

‘Army Wives’ is an original program aired by the Lifetime Channel that premiered in 2007. It is a drama that chronicles the lives of four wives of husbands in the army. It also focuses on a man whose wife is away in the army. The show had the largest series premiere in Lifetime’s network history when it aired its first episode on June 3, 2007. The program is loosely based on the book Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives, written by Tanya Biank.

The cast includes Kim Delaney, who used to star on ‘NYPD Blue’, Catherine Bell, previously seen on CBS’ ‘Jag’, and Brian McNamara, who has an extensive list of credits on various television programs, including ‘Seinfeld’, ‘Matlock’ and ‘Star Trek: Voyager’. ‘Army Wives’ has done exceptionally well for the Lifetime network, a channel that has taken some heat over the years for its dramatized low-budget films that tend to deal with abused housewives and their struggles in fighting back against male aggressors.

To many critics, Lifetime panders to women in this regard, by offering up mostly one-sided depictions of domestic violence issues and the like that only paint male characters in a negative light.

‘Army Wives’, though, presents a different kind of program for the network, and includes some insights into what it must be like to have a spouse overseas fighting in a seemingly endless war. That is probably what has made the show so successful, since it is a glimpse into one side of the issue that we do not normally see presented on other programs.

‘Once in Every Lifetime’ is a song by Welsh singer/songwriter Jem (real name: Jemma Griffiths). The song was written for the soundtrack to the 2006 adventure/fantasy film ‘Eragon’.

It is a very low-key, mesmerizing song, somewhat in the same vein as New Age artist Enya, whose songs were prominently featured in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ films. Lyrically, the song deals with issues such as self-empowerment, and being able to rise above the occasion and to have an effect on the world “if you do believe man can move a mountain”. It is a pretty standard adventure-movie type song, so for it to have been included with ‘Eragon’ makes perfect sense.

Jem’s songs have been featured in a wide variety of television programs and movies. Her most successful song as of yet has been ‘They’, off of her debut album, 2004’s Finally Woken. ‘Once in Every Lifetime’ is a good song to listen to if you are enjoy Enya or low-key, relaxing pop ballads with uplifting lyrics. The song is available for purchase on iTunes, as well as being included on the ‘Eragon’ soundtrack. The song is not, though, available on either of Jem’s solo albums to date.

The ‘Eragon’ soundtrack, on which ‘Once in Every Lifetime’ is included, is primarily a collection of instrumental music from the film. The only non-instrumental music on the album are the Avril Lavigne song ‘Keep Holding On’ and ‘Once in Every Lifetime’ by Jem. The song is not Jem’s most successful or popular song to date, but it is still a solid, low-tempo ballad that probably appeals to a lot of different people.

‘Once in a Lifetime’ is one of the Talking Heads’ best songs. The band, one of the most innovative of all time, emerged in the late 1970s and were supremely popular in the next decade, amassing great success and influencing many bands that would spring up out of their wake. David Byrne’s bizarre songwriting and the band’s offbeat, against-the-grain song structures helped signify them as worthy of such accolades. ‘Once in a Lifetime’ is arguably the band’s signature song.

In it, Byrne takes the point of view of a confused middle-aged person wondering aloud about how he got to that point in his life. The concept of a mid-life crisis is something none of us hope to experience when we get into the ‘prime of our lives’, yet it is also something that comes out of emotions we can relate to. We all want to live our lives according to our own means, and hopefully reach a lifestyle we are happy with.

To coin the song’s lyrics, we may ask ourselves, “how did I get here?” if things do not end up how we would have wished. ‘Once in a Lifetime’ taps into emotions none of us want to feel once we qualify for a mid-life crisis, yet it may happen to us nonetheless.

The song is one of the Talking Heads’ best. The band has an important position in music history, as they were incredibly creative for their time and were monumentally influential on future artists. Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor heralds their album Remain in Light as his personal favorite, and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke has listed Talking Heads as his favorite band. Yorke’s band even named themselves after a TH song, so the influence is obvious. Talking Heads were a fantastic band, and ‘Once in a Lifetime’ is one of their most well-known and best songs.

The Talking Heads are a great, legendary band. Their song ‘Once in a Lifetime’ still gets rotation on various radio stations, from the type that plays only 80s music, to the type that plays random songs from the “80s, 90s, and today”, indicating the band’s wide range of audience. With this song, penned by David Byrne and Brian Eno, the band cultivated one of its best and most successful songs.

Its lyrics concern something most people relate to at one point or another in their lives, the mid life crisis. When we get older, we tend to question our own lives and whether or not we have achieved what we thought we would. In the song, Byrne depicts someone who is in a moral quandary with him or herself, asking, “My God, how did I get here?”

Talking Heads broke up in the early 1990s, and save for one reunion show in 2002, it does not look like they will ever get back together and create new music or bring their strange, offbeat live show to new generations of fans who have just now come to appreciate the band.

‘Once in a Lifetime’ belongs up there with ‘Psycho Killer’ and ‘Burning Down the House’ among the Talking Heads’ best, keynote tracks. Thom Yorke of Radiohead has called them his favorite band, even naming his own band after one of their songs. Obviously, the Talking Heads’ influence has been felt throughout the music business, and this song is one such example of their incredible vision and creative peak.

‘Once in a Lifetime’ is one of the Talking Heads most successful and best songs. The band, who emerged in the 1970s and rose to prominence in the 80s, remains to this day one of the most innovative bands of all time.

Their influence has been felt and cited by such important musical figures as Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and Thom Yorke of Radiohead, also one of the most visionary bands of their time. Front man David Byrne continues to tour as a solo artist, but the Talking Heads will probably not ever reunite, which is a shame. ‘Once in a Lifetime’ is noteworthy because of how Byrne talks over the music, instead of singing. His cries of how “you may ask yourself…my God, how did I get here?” are legendary lines in the lexicon of popular music, and with good reason.

The song concerns the mid life crisis that most of us feel in middle age of our lives. In the song, Byrne speaks for someone very confused about how he got to where he did in his life, and he questions his surroundings and what happened to his life thus far. It is something we can all relate to, especially when we’re past middle age and begin questioning our own existences, much like people are wont to do.

The song remains one of Talking Heads’ best and most successful tracks, coming off of 1980’s album Remain In Light. Trent Reznor has called that album his all time favorite, indicating the reverence the band and its albums commands from their musical peers and colleagues. The band, and this song in particular, remain one of the most creative of all time.

The Talking Heads were one of the most visionary and creative bands of all-time. David Byrne and the rest of his band forged the way for bands such as Radiohead and many others. Songs such as ‘Once in a Lifetime’ signify the band’s extremely unique sound, and craftsmanship of weirdly offbeat songs and beats.

‘Once in a Lifetime’ in particular is one of the band’s signature songs, with Byrne singing about the mid-life crisis we all dread so much, and questioning your own position in your world. It comes from the Talking Heads album Remain in Light, released in 1980.

Unfortunately, the band has long since broken up, despite the fact that Byrne continues to record solo albums and tour on his own. All signs point to a Talking Heads reunion being out of the question, which is a shame, as a generation of fans won’t be able to see the band in its live inception, which was always rather offbeat and bizarre.

This song exemplifies the band very well, and this, coupled with songs such as ‘Psycho Killer’ and ‘Burning Down the House’ were three of the weirder songs to achieve success in the 1980s. Radiohead, the amazingly innovative British band, took their name from a Talking Heads song, and frontman Thom Yorke has called the Heads his all time favorite band. Obviously, the Talking Heads have left a strong imprint on music, and ‘Once in a Lifetime’ represents the band at its very best, as off-kilter, memorable, and catchy as it is.

The Lifetime Network has endured a lot of heat over the years. People constantly make fun of the movies it airs, for their heavily dramatized content usually centering around a woman being the subject of abuse from her husband/lover and having to beat overwhelming odds and fight back in a courageous way.

TV shows such as ‘Family Guy’ have lampooned the network for this type of programming, and yet Lifetime continues to thrive. That is because it has tapped into a key audience that will probably never tire of this type of program. Women like to watch programs that empower women, and those are the type that Lifetime airs on a regular basis. While the programs being aired are pretty low-budget and have low production values, their audience continues to enjoy them regardless.

The fact of the matter is that the Lifetime television channel has managed to continue to be on the air no matter the flak it has attracted. It has even started its own movie channel that exclusively plays the original movies that have been so divisive for the network. LMN, the Lifetime Movie Network, is its own separate cable station devoted to these films.

Lifetime has begun also airing syndicated episodes of popular sitcoms and dramas from other broadcast channels, which indicates a desire to branch out and reach new audiences, by airing programs about other things than heavy handed dramatized accounts of women beating the odds in a cruel, male-dominated society. The channel will probably continue to remain popular among its demographic as time goes on. It has endured this long, and there does not seem to be an end in sight for a while, at least.

Are you looking for the on-air schedule for the Lifetime channel? Mylifetime.com is a vibrant community-based site featuring blogs, video clips, and, most importantly, the schedule of programming for the Lifetime channel. Here you can view what shows are on when, and which episode of what sitcom airs at what time.

It is a very valuable website for any Lifetime viewer. The site really is an extensive overview of all things Lifetime, and it should answer any programming-related questions regarding the network. The Lifetime channel airs a variety of programs and types of programs, from original movies and series (such as Army Wives) to syndicated episodes of other networks’ popular sitcoms (such as Still Standing and Reba).

Sure, the programming on Lifetime is centrally aimed at women and a female audience, but the network seems to be trying to appeal to women from all age groups with the types of shows they are starting to air.

ABC’s hit Desperate Housewives has found a syndicated home on Lifetime, and in 2010 CBS’ smash hit How I Met Your Mother will begin its run on the channel as well. This is a far cry from the heavy-handed dramatic TV movies the network is notorious for airing, as airing these newer, more culturally popular sitcoms and broadcast favorites might cause a change of demographic for Lifetime. They are probably counting on that to help fix the image that has caused the network to be the target of people making fun of its programming for years.

Lifetime used to be called ‘television for women’. While it changed its slogan, the fact of the matter remains: it is a network intended for a female audience. Its original movies are usually about abusive husbands and a woman’s struggle against the odds to fight back amid traumatic situations.

Lifetime used to air games for the WNBA league, the professional women’s basketball conference. The WNBA has since its inception been ridiculed and not really taken very seriously by ESPN or other sports arenas, so for it to have aired on Lifetime made sense. Lifetime itself has been the target of criticism and jokes ever since it rose to prominence. The female-centric, “man-hating” tone of its movies and programming helped give the network a visibly feminist perspective, and that helped forge its enemies.

Regardless of the heat the network has attracted, it still continues to thrive among its key audience, and holds its place in cable television as the main destination for middle-aged women, whom ostensibly make up a sizable portion of its demographic.

These women relate to the issues in the programming because they are depicted in a dramatic fashion, yet the topics tackled in the films and shows (abuse, violent relationships, kidnapping) can at times be relatable by the audience.

That is a big reason the network continues to thrive, even during times in which it is the target of a lot of criticism from different groups. Lifetime should undoubtedly continue to remain popular for a good amount of time.

The Lifetime television channel used to be called ‘television for women’, but that slogan was too exclusive, so it has since changed. What it has not changed, though, is its programming. The network still regularly airs its original movies that are intended for a female audience.

These films routinely deal with issues involving abusive husbands, child kidnapping/disappearances, and other traumatic events that happen to the female lead character. Besides these films, Lifetime also airs its own original programming, such as Army Wives and Gay, Straight or Taken? and it is also the syndication home for programs such as Desperate Housewives, Party of Five and Frasier.

Due to its programming being heavily geared toward a female audience, Lifetime has been subject to derision and criticism. The popular animated cartoon Family Guy, for instance, has made it the butt of jokes for a while, and other groups and people have made jokes at the network’s expense as well. This is most likely due to the fact that the original programming on Lifetime is heavily geared towards women, so much so that male characters are little else than abusive husbands and sexual predators.

The movies are also cheaply made and have low production values, so they have a very ‘TV movie’ feel about them. Regardless, the films have amassed such an audience on a regular basis that the Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) exists now, a network that only broadcasts the original movies. Lifetime continues to be a popular network among its key demographic, and that will probably not change for a long time, if ever.

Lifetime Fitness is a membership-based gym that currently has eighty-five locations spread around nineteen states in the US. It is a more East-Coast based company, as there are no Lifetime Fitness gyms west of Utah. They tend to be more located in the southeastern part of the United States, from as south as Florida to as north as Minnesota. Lifetime Fitness has four types of membership options for interested people, ranging from Bronze, Platinum, Gold, and Onyx memberships.

The company offers a free seven day trial period before membership fees go into effect, so anyone interested in the services of Lifetime Fitness has a lot of options in that regard.

Lifetime Fitness gyms offer a myriad of amenities and accommodations for members. The company’s website, www.lifetimefitness.com, lists the various activities that members can partake in at a gym, ranging from regular cardio equipment and swimming to rock climbing and golf.

Not all of these activities and amenities are available at every Lifetime Fitness location, of course, but the fact of the matter is that the company provides its members with an abundance of options for their workout needs, and that makes Lifetime Fitness a very worthwhile gym membership for anyone looking for a place to work out that is well worth the money. Kids can even have birthday parties sponsored by Lifetime, and members can even use nutritionists employed by the company to assist them with healthy ways of living. Lifetime Fitness is one of the most thoroughly worthwhile gym memberships money can buy.

Lifetime’s movie channel, Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) is a recently-created network that devotes programming time solely to the Original movies produced by the Lifetime channel. For years, Lifetime has been popular among female audiences, who watch movies directed at their demographic and containing subject matter and topics central to their hearts:

lovers’ infidelity, child custody issues, and overall institutional violence against women by male-centered systems of control. Because of the success of these films, Lifetime created LMN as an outlet to further show these films at an increasing rate. Whereas the normal Lifetime channel contains programming besides its original movies, LMN only airs the movies that have made Lifetime the popular cable network that it is today.

That is not to say that Lifetime only has legions of fans, as in fact there has been an abundance of criticism toward Lifetime and its movies over the years, due to the subject matter of the films and how female-centric everything is. Males are relegated to being stereotypes and negative figures acting against the woman’s well being, and that has been decried by some as enforcing negative stereotypes.

Regardless of whether this analysis is correct, these types of things do happen to women, so it is good to at least have some depictions of women rising to the occasion and fighting back against their detractors and improving their situation amid tremendous odds. Because of that aspect of the films, they have become popular enough to have created LMN for women to be able to have somewhere to go if they wish to view these types of films on a regular basis.

For years, the Lifetime channel has been the chosen viewing destination for many a housewife in the United States. The network’s programming, usually devoting itself to programs and movies about strong-willed female heroines fighting back against a male-centered, biased society that relentlessly tries to stifle their expression.

The popularity of the network has not come without criticism, of course. Many people argue that the movies and programs pander to female audiences, and depict clownish, stereotyped caricatures of abusive husbands and that the overall depiction of males in the programming might hurt the perceptions of gender stereotypes and roles in society. That argument does hold some water, as only seeing men as the enemy and as abusive, lying cheats might hurt any woman who views these programs and internalizes the types of expectations into reality.

Of course, this type of extreme reaction will not happen for every viewer of the network’s programs, so it is not really as big of a deal as one might think. Lifetime’s slogan used to be ‘Television for Women’, but it changed after the constant criticism from other groups.

Regardless of the flak directed at the station, it is an important source for women to have access to programming devoted to their views and issues that are important to them. Because of the ways that females are able to relate to the subject matter depicted in the programs, the network continues to exist and continues to be popular among its chief demographic: middle-class women who may or may not be housewives, and who wish to watch things on television geared toward their interests.

A lot of the Lifetime Channel’s movies are available on DVD. There are pages on Amazon devoted to the ‘Best of Lifetime Movies’, and most are available for pretty cheap prices. A search on eBay for ‘Lifetime Movie’ also yields an abundance of results, again with affordable prices. The types of Lifetime films available on DVD reflect the types of films that are shown on television.

Themes and subject matters include child kidnapping, the infidelity and ‘double lives’ of abusive husbands, and women dealing with stalkers and obsessed would-be lovers. It might not be entirely necessary to purchase these DVD’s, as the movies are broadcast on the Lifetime Channel and the Lifetime Movie Network routinely enough to prevent the necessity of purchasing these films on DVD. Not that someone should not necessarily buy them, but they do air frequently on television.

Some Lifetime movies have been destinations for actresses trying to make a name for themselves, and some big name stars of today were in such productions. One such example is ‘Fifteen and Pregnant’, which starred a young, unknown Kirsten Dunst, who is now a big star in Hollywood. Another film is ‘Gracie’s Choice’, which starred Kristen Bell. Bell has gone on to star in the television show ‘Veronica Mars’ and the film ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’, but got her proverbial feet wet in this particular Lifetime film.

While Lifetime movies may not have the best production values and may not win any awards, their subject matter and the actresses who take part in some of the productions help make them as popular as they are. For that reason, the films have been made available on DVD for home viewing.

It would be very challenging to assemble a list of every single Lifetime Original movie that has been made over the years. One website, http://www.anaphe.org/Lifetime_Movies.html does have an extensive list of the movies that have aired on Lifetime, divided into lists pertaining to subject matter.

The types of topics Lifetime movies routinely deal with are child abuse, sexual abuse (usually by the husband/lover against the woman), child abduction, and predators (albeit Internet or sexual, or both). It almost seems as if new Lifetime movies are produced every five minutes, because there always seems to be one airing on the network at any given time. The audiences love them, and they have become the staple of the Lifetime Channel.

Part of what makes Lifetime movies so derided by some people probably has to do with the low production qualities of the films and their titles. Movies such as “Trapped in Silence” and “While Justice Sleeps” are typical of these types of films. Despite the criticisms, these films probably get attention from viewers whose interest is piqued when they read the title. The names of the films are perfect for the types of films they are, and that most likely helps make the films successful.

Lifetime airs them all the time, so they must be doing something right. While these movies may not be the best cinematic productions, their subject matter is important to many people, as women are faced with these types of issues in real life, although in decidedly less dramatic versions. If they can relate to the characters on screen, then the movies are doing something right, and that is probably why they are as successful as they are.

The Lifetime Network now has a sister channel that is devoted solely to the movies that are produced by Lifetime itself. That means that the Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) and Lifetime both show their own movies in their programming schedules. These movies have been the subjects of criticism and ridicule over the years, for cliché subject matter that seemingly always has an abused, brave woman fighting back against a domineering, violent and cheating husband or lover, amid perilous odds.

There is a very clear pro-women agenda going on with these films, and that is why they have garnered so much heat. Regardless of these criticisms, it is important that these types of movies exist for women to view, instead of the male-dominated movies and programs on broadcast channels that demean women to the effect of merely being hyper sexualized targets of male aggression.

While the phrase ‘Lifetime Original Movie’ may make some people groan and reach for the remote, these movies do have a large audience, and some are in fact very successful when they air. Some of these films tackle issues that are prevalent in the lives of many different types of women across the United States: combating weight issues, dealing with husbands and their infidelity, and issues of child custody and divorce.

These are popular topics for Lifetime movies, and with good reason. The movies, while not possessing the highest degree of creativity or production quality, are efficient in presenting these issues in ways that the audience can relate to them, and that has helped make Lifetime Original Movies successful with its devoted audience today.

For years, the Lifetime Channel has been a popular television network for women. That even used to be part of its slogan, “television for women”. The network broadcasts a lot of shows and movies geared toward a female audience, and these programs and films usually contain some kind of topic or theme related to domestic violence against women or a woman’s struggle for some cause against a male-dominated society. The movies and programs definitely have tended to have a feministic tone to them, and male characters are usually abusive or antagonistic to the heroine.

There is now a separate channel that houses Lifetime’s original movies, the Lifetime Movie Network (LMN). Whereas regular Lifetime Channel now has other shows that differ from movies, LMN exists just to show the network’s original movies all the time. These types of channels are rising in popularity, as Oprah Winfrey’s O Network also does well, and is geared towards a female audience as well.

It is important to have these types of networks for women to watch. Men have Spike TV, which is filled with programming about violence, beer, and women. While those are stereotypical topics, Spike TV is a thriving network, so it is important that women have a channel more geared toward their tastes. Lifetime is that channel, with the movies it provides for its female viewers.

While it is unclear exactly if movies that continually reinforce negative stereotypes of male figures are a positive thing, the fact is that the types of abusive relationships depicted in Lifetime movies do happen in real life.

The television network Lifetime used to have a slogan that declared itself as “television for women”. That catchphrase was dropped in 2005, in favor of a new one, “My story is on Lifetime”.

Despite the switch, the station is still widely considered to be television geared toward women, with programming containing female-centered TV movies, usually of a dramatic nature. The slogan switch in 2005 seems like an effort to create a new image, one that does not bring forth criticism as much as the network has over the years.
The original program Army Wives has proved to be a huge hit since its debut in 2007. The show had the largest premiere of a series in network history, and continues to achieve impressive ratings. In April 2008, the popular fashion reality series Project Runway was sold to Lifetime for a five-year-deal which would relocate the show from the Bravo Network to Lifetime.

This would potentially be a huge change for Lifetime and an attempt by the network to further its self-imposed facelift. However, NBC Universal, which owns Project Runway, has since filed an injunction and has prevented the program from officially launching on Lifetime lift.

The issue is still in debate, and thus the show has yet to make its debut on Lifetime. Regardless, the network has obviously tried to alter its image after years of derision and being made fun of in the popular media (such as on Saturday Night Live or Family Guy, programs which have made jokes at the network’s expense). Time will tell whether or not Lifetime’s changes pay off in the long run, but so far, with the success of Army Wives and the acquisition of Project Runway, the network seems to be moving in the right direction.

An Mp3 player can provide a lifetime of music. You can literally store hundreds of songs in one small player. An MP3 player is welcome alternative to cd players, as well tape or record players.

Weighing only a few ounces, you can wear your MP3 easily and be able to move around freely. They are even much lighter than walkmans for working out or running. Storing music is fairly easy with an MP3. You can find several sources where you can download music. You can do it legally as well. There are sites that offer the purchase of one song or the full album.

MP3s are also great for travel. Traveling on planes, trains, buses—all are more pleasant with music. A lifetime of music can be accessed with an MP3 player. With the small size and the capability to hold a lot of music make all of this possible.

There are several brands of MP3s including the ever popular Ipod. Ipods come in a range of sizes and colors. The Nano and Shuffle are smaller—but they are geared for more active lifestyles. The Shuffle is specifically geared toward working out.

It has never been easier to have a lifetime of music at your fingertips. With an MP3, you can never be without your music collection. You can also burn and store your existing cd collection. One word of advice—back up your libraries and collections of music to an external device. That way, if you upgrade computers, you have not lost all of the music that you have stored.

Most likely you’re thinking of your “better half” when you think of the song “Lifetime” by East Coast R&B quartet Prophet Jones. It has become the modern-day “Always and Forever”: an R&B classic you can croon to your significant other (or try to) with ring in hand.

Strangely, the song’s own lifetime, in terms of being a hit, was rather short for a wedding-day staple.

The first single from Prophet Jones’ self-titled 2001 album on Motown/University was the Southern-ish hip-hop single “Woof,” which didn’t chart. So “Lifetime” was released; soon its video cracked Black Entertainment Television’s top-10 countdown show “106 & Park,” where Prophet Jones made a live appearance in October 2001.

Not bad. Nevertheless, the single itself didn’t quite make the top 100 of the R&B charts and never made a dent on pop radio. Meanwhile, the album peaked at number 86; the group hasn’t made another one since.

However, later in 2001, “Lifetime” was covered by their fellow Motown artists the Temptations–yup, those Temptations–who put it on their album “Awesome.” That might explain the tune’s unexpected mass appeal, which has grown to the point that, for instance, “Lifetime” is now part of NYCityWeddings.com’s suggested-song list. (If you’re curious about the Temps’ rendition, it’s part of the two-CD edition of “Awesome,” not the single-CD version.)

So those who would dismiss Anthony “Hollywood” Dumas, Antonio “K.D.” McNair, Jerome “Goldee” Lasall, and Patrick “P. Rowe” Rowe as one-hit wonders should remember that unlike most vocal groups, they wrote “Lifetime” themselves. And, reportedly, they have rerecorded it as a reggae jam, so who knows–maybe making a pop music standard won’t be a once-in-a-lifetime (ahem) occurrence for Prophet Jones.

Then again, as their lyrics say, a Lifetime is all that they need.

A life without music would be a sad one indeed. A lifetime of music, on the other hand, is a wonderful thing. With today’s technology, you can find ways to create a lifetime of music. MP3s and Ipods are the latest craze in music collection. You can create and manage your entire collection—and listen to it practically anywhere.

With an Ipod or MP3 you can download music on sites such as Itunes. Typically, with those companies, you can pay by song or by album. You can also take all of your old cds and transfer them over to an Ipod. You could literally store a lifetime of music on an Ipod or MP3 player.

In fact, there is a commercial currently running where a young couple meets, and she asks him what music is on his Ipod. He starts to list the music he has stored. They fall in love, get married, have kids, and grow old. Throughout this whole time, he is still listing all of the music that he has stored on his Ipod. The commercial is pretty effective in communicating how easy it is to build a huge music library—a lifetime of music.

So a lifetime of music is not so hard to come by. With a bit of diligence, you can create a set of libraries with your entire music collection. If you back up all of your selections on a separate drive, you will be able to build and build your lifetime of music collection.

It is disappointing to invest in an expensive set of cookware, expecting it to last a lifetime, and having it scratched, ruined, or burned within a short period of time.
There are some features to look for in cookware that will most likely ensure that it will last a lifetime.

The first thing you can look for is a cookware company who has a great reputation for ethics, honesty, and superior workmanship. With a bit of research, you can find some of the most respected cookware companies. Many of these companies that manufacture cookware that will last a lifetime are also some of the oldest and most established cookware companies, so they will have name recognition and will be easy to find.

Another thing to look for is cookware made from quality materials. Iron skillets, for example, are known to last a lifetime. The skillet is made from pure iron, and for the most part, is invincible to cooking elements and wear and tear. Cookware that will last a lifetime also can be made of ceramics and stoneware. It is the quality of workmanship as well as material that will enable a set of cookware to last a lifetime.

With a bit of research, you can invest hard earned money into a set of cookware that will last a lifetime and be a part of many fantastic meals. The sets often come with a complete set of pots and pans, so that you have everything you need for a variety of meals.

In today’s world of fast entertainment, it is rare for something to last. With video games and online games, it is easy to move on the next new thing. There are, however, some games that will last and will be popular for a lifetime.

Baseball, basketball and croquet are lifetime games. These games will never go out of style for several reasons. Many of them are national past times—professional football, soccer, basketball, baseball and hockey all have leagues and professional teams. These games are televised and the resulting championships for each of these sports keep them in the category of lifetime games.

Also, the games themselves are intertwined with most aspects of everyday life—through the generations. Kids grow up playing ball in the backyard with their parents and siblings, and then as they grow up, they play with friends and on school teams.

Some board games, such as Monopoly, Risk, Checkers, Chess, and Life are also games of a lifetime. They have kept their place in popularity among the many, many video games and online games that hit the shelves everyday.

Games that last a lifetime and provide enjoyment for a lifetime are able to do so because they often appeal to everyone in the family. They are multi-generational. A seven year old can play Checkers with his grandfather. And a young mom can play baseball with her nineteen year old son. And kids grow up playing games with their friends. These games that have remained popular through time have also provided a lifetime of memories for many generations.

“Once in a Lifetime” by the Talking Heads has had as much affect on and in American alternative music as did Oklahoma for musicals or the Who’s Tommy for rock operas. The song itself is used to open the Stop Making Sense Concert video. The song has been covered by about everyone from Jay Z to Smashing Pumpkins.

“The Once in a lifetime” lyrics themselves are legendary. It’s hard to forget…. “This is not my beautiful house. This is not my beautiful wife”. David sings with a certain amount of incredulity—and awe–as if he is discovering this himself for the first time. He performs the song as if he were a marionette. And what is interesting is that that entire stage piece is choreographed by Toni Basil–who is famous for the song “Mickey”.

The Stop Making Sense concert video is as complex as any movie set. The band used props and orchestrated each song with precision. He starts out as the only one onstage, and with each song, each member of the band comes out. I distinctly remember watching the video, and the song “Once in a Lifetime”, for the first time with my Dad. He was a huge fan of the giant oversized suit that David would wear. The suit bounced on his gaunt and gangly form—adding so much to the overall build in music and set design.

There are several songs with once in a lifetime as a part of the lyrics–it is a poem in itself. And the Talking Heads interpretation of what once in a lifetime can mean is quite compelling. It’s not surprising that those famous lyrics and that riveting performance became a landmark in American music.

The most popular women’s network, Lifetime, explores the life of Coco Chanel. A woman from humble beginnings, alone, fighting the odds and finding a way to use her gifts. Shirley MacLaine portrays the iconoclast Coco Chanel for Lifetime TV, addressing the trials and triumphs of a woman with a dream, dealing with the difficulties of love, loss and perfectionism, deciding not to play victim, but to fulfill her role in society and use her gifts.

Coco’s words in the teleplay are “Strength is built by one’s failures, not by one’s successes. I grew strong by swimming upstream against the current.” Her story is at a time when the men were at war and the women stepped up and assumed a new role in society. Women went to work. In this time of war and want, the climate of the world is not so very different.
Programming on Lifetime TV, Lifetime Movies and the content on the Lifetime TV website addresses the issues that the modern woman is facing and supports causes that empower women in their plight.

Coco Chanel’s driving force was to never experience the poverty and lack that she had known as a child. Her fashions were presented as a necessity of the times, with shorter hems for the working woman. Her practical elegance parallels the drive of Lifetime TV.

Perform a search on “Lifetime TV Foundation” on MyLifetime.com and you may be surprise to find it isn’t all matte, not all anti-aging, perhaps, but foundations that allow women to grow older with grace and pride and dignity, highlight foundations that equip women with scholarships, tools and ways and means to realize their potential. Platforms for change are on the Lifetime TV website in the Community section. In a world that needs people to take a stand and facilitate change, Lifetime TV Network is meeting that need.

It boasts about 2 million viewers in general and at times up to 5 million viewers for certain programs. Most of its shows are geared towards women viewers and on the lighter side it is sometimes referred to as “The estrogen channel”.

Lifetime has an interesting lineup, both during weekends and weekdays.
The channel telecasts its original shows as well as other popular sitcoms. Some of the sitcoms aired are ‘The Golden Girls’, which airs every weekday from 8 to 10 am. This is followed by 2 half hour episodes of “Frasier” and from 11am to noon the channel airs ‘Will and Grace’. Following this comes two full hours of “Desperate Housewives”, which has a faithful fan following throughout the United States.

Weekday afternoon’s staple is most often a movie targeting women viewers. From 4 to 6 pm and the channel broadcasts two full hours of “Wife Swap”. “Reba” is next from
6 to 7 as well as from 8 to 9.In between the channels airs two episodes of “Still Standing”. At night there is usually a movie or two and a repeat of the sitcoms aired earlier. However, from January 5th the channel will be airing “Dietribe” at 10pm and two full episodes of ‘How I met your mother’ from 7 to 8 pm on Mondays.

Weekends have a whole new schedule with more of movies which are either lifetime’s original or movies made for TV from other channels.

The channel also airs a few game shows during primetime on certain weekdays and weekends. Though the schedule and programs do change from time to time, the channel has had a tremendous success in holding on, as well as increasing its audience.

When a person wants entertainment (that is, mind-dulling, tasteless, “I can’t believe I just sat through that whole thing and didn’t turn it off” entertainment) there is a sad plethora of choices at their disposal. But when that person wants beguiling poignancy, when that person wants to care about what they see and feel what others feel, when that person wants to walk away still interestedly thinking about what they just watched and now know, there is a salvific marvel for them: the Lifetime Movie Network.

It’s a counterpart to Lifetime Television and is dedicated entirely to movies (yes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Just in case there was any uncertainty regarding the word “entirely”). At all hours of the day, it provides all kinds of movies of both theatrical releases and original films.

This Friday (that’s January 9th, at 8 p.m. for those who suffer the schedules of their hurricane lives and would like to clear some breathing room for a good night with a good movie) The Story of Us, a tragic chronicle of the elasticity of marriage starring Bruce Willis and Michelle Pheiffer, is going to be featured. On Monday at 2 p.m. is Wicker Park, a surreal drama of a persistent passion with Josh Hartnett and Rose Byrne.

Coming up later this month is Defending Our Kids: The Julie Posey Story, the true account of a mother defending her family from internet predators, raved about for its gripping story and its protective, informative value for both parents and children.

And the list goes on and on, so it’d be much simpler to let it be known that the schedule for the whole month can be seen at www.lmn.tv/schedule. Movies for the mind, the heart, and the soul—they’re all there.

The Lifetime network has a long running tradition of making quality made-for-television movies, created primarily for women and featuring women in leading roles. These are commonly known as Lifetime original movies, and have gained quite a following since they originally started airing on Lifetime. Not only are the Lifetime original movies shown on the Lifetime network, but also on the Lifetime Movie Network, which began in 1998 as a new channel to show the Lifetime original movies. Over time, the channel grew and now shows many movies, including ones made for theaters as well, all with the same central themes of the Lifetime originals.

Both the original Lifetime channel and the Lifetime Movie Network have online web sites where you can find daily programming information, articles about original shows, message boards where you can discuss original Lifetime movies with others, and tons more information. They are www.mylifetime.com, and www.lmn.tv, so if you’re interested in anything Lifetime then definitely check them out.

Lifetime original movies may only be one cornerstone of the Lifetime franchise, but they are quite possibly the most important one. They are known by almost everyone as quality programs, featuring great actresses in important lead roles, such as Denise Richards, Yasmine Bleeth, Shannon Doherty, Cybil Sheppard, Jane Seymour, and tons more. If you are new to Lifetime movies and want to see some for yourself, the following movies come highly recommended: She’s Too Young starring Marcia Gay Harden, Obsessed starring Jenna Elfman, and I Do (But I Don’t) starring Denise Richards. Enjoy!

If you’re tired of grim newscasts with dire predictions and want to return to the joy of Christmas, you might consider tuning into the Lifetime Network. This weekend cable channel Lifetime is showing movies staring Nancy McKeon, Whoopi Goldberg and Vanessa L. Williams. All three movies focus on traditional Christmas themes of family and redemption.

This Sunday at 5:00 p.m. EST, Lifetime features Comfort and Joy, (2003) a story of a career woman who is knocked unconscious and awakens as a housewife with two children. The premise is similar to The Family Man (2000) that starred Nick Cage. Both characters find their alternative “families” much more appealing than their prior career-oriented lifestyles. It could be said that these movies owe their inspiration, if not their direct content, to It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), the Christmas classic starring Jimmy Stewart.
Academy Award-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg stars in Call Me Claus (2001) when she is cast as a television producer who has been selected by the real Santa Claus as his replacement. This movie airs this Monday at 9:00 p.m. EST.

Tune in this coming Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. EST to watch A Diva’s Christmas Carol (2000) starring the multi-talented Vanessa L. Williams. This movie is based upon A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The updated version casts Ms. Williams as an unhappy singer whose perspective is changed by visits from the ghosts of Christmases past, present and future. Kathy Griffin and John Taylor are featured.

Although these films may borrow heavily from older movies, they are guaranteed to uplift your spirits and prepare you for the upcoming holiday season.

They’re just like the tables in your school cafeteria except lighter, easier to keep clean, you can store them away easily and there’s no bully trying to steal your lunch.
Whether you want the round or the rectangular, the four foot or the five foot, you can guarantee it’s going to be tough.

They don’t crack, they don’t peel. The steel frame is all powder-coated, so no rust, and best of all when you want it out of the way, fold it flat and slide it in the shed or garage. In fact, you can get a Lifetime shed from the same company that makes the Lifetime picnic table—like a matching set! If you’ve never seen the picnic tables, you’ve probably seen the basic utility tables and folding chairs.

At yard sales or back yard parties—anytime you need quick and easy table surface and seating, this is the way to go. Other cool products from Lifetime are the basketball goodies.

You can get the portable backboard and hoop which is pretty easy to deal with. You basically fill the base with sand or water to weight it down, and you’re good to go. You can also get the goal that you attach to your roof, or a pole version that you put in the ground.

The great thing about the basketball goals is their adjustable height. If you’re lousy at basketball like me, you can bring it down a little more to your level. If your kids aren’t interested in trying out for the L.A. Lakers, you can also get different play systems—slides, swings, etc. If you want to pick up outdoor products and you don’t want them to break, splinter, rust, or just give up and fall apart, check out Lifetime.

Just as the picnic is a great summertime tradition, the story of Lifetime picnic tables is a great success story. Because it all started with… basketball? That’s right. In 1972, the founder of the Lifetime Products company was just trying to make himself a better backboard and hoop in his backyard. After making one for himself, he made more and sold them, then started making playground equipment and other sports equipment, and eventually that led to… you got it, picnic tables.

And now, Lifetime picnic tables are pretty much the standard brand, carried all over the country by most major distributors – from places like Sears and Sam’s Club, to tons specialty stores and online sites. They come in virtually every size and configuration that is practical to sell.

Durability and ease-of-use are two major priorities in the design of the Lifetime picnic table line. It’s a given that picnic tables have to be durable – to withstand weather and the rigors that inherently come with the casual nature of outdoor eating. Nobody worries about scratching a picnic table. They’re there to eat, drink and have good time, not to have to be careful about the furniture. And when they’re done, they want to be able to get that thing (the table) out of the way, without needing and engineering degree to do so. That’s another place where Lifetime sells itself – easy to break down and store.

Who would have thought? Just build them a basketball hoop, and they will come… to the picnic.

The song entitled, “I want to spend my lifetime loving you” by Tina Arena Featuring Marc Anthony is a beautiful song off of the 1998 soundtrack for the movie “The Mask of Zorro.” This song has been said to be one of the best duets ever done for a movie soundtrack. Its soothing melody and compelling lyrics can easily makethis love song a wedding favorite.

It tells a story of how love can conquer all, and how life is not worth living without love in it. The musical arrangement is simply amazing, and you can hear the strong meaning behind the vocals. It’s hard to listen to this song and not be touched in some way. Whether you are a fan of the movie Zorro or not, you can still identify with the meaning behind the song. The best thing about this piece is that it speaks to the heart, and expresses how deep real love can go.

From the beginning to the end of the song you can feel the essence of love taking over your soul. Even if you have listened to the tune in the past I also encourage you to read the lyrics so you can fully appreciate the song in its entirety. The combination of Arena and Marc Anthony together make this musical arrangement a true work of art.

The song challenges you to fight for what you believe in, and have the strength to love with a powerful intensity that will last a lifetime. When Marc Anthony sings, “I want to spend my lifetime loving you” he is not only using words but poetic expression. This song is a treat to add to any music lover’s collection. If you have never heard this song before, I urge you to give it a listen so you can experience its powerful lyrics for yourself.

I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You was a single written by Tina Arena who collaborated with Marc Anthony. In keeping with romantic tradition, the song starts out “Moon so bright, night so fine,” invoking the pathetic fallacy where the lover speaks to nature and nature reflects his or her inner soul.

It continues with “Life’s a dream, we are dreaming.” It sounds like the lovers are taking a page out of Warholing philosophy that says in order to cope, pretend it is a movie. In this case, the lovers are describing their elevated emotional state as a dream which is how it feels sometimes when things are going deliciously smoothly.

“Race the moon, catch the wind, ride the night to the end. . .” the song continues imploring the lovers to recognize a good thing when you have it, and hang on to it. And the next line, “Seize the day, stand up for the light,” only reinforces what Saul Bellow believed in…live for the moment to the fullest.

The next verse gets Christian, “Heroes rise, heroes fall, rise again, win it all. In Your heart can’t you feel the glory . . .” There is mention of rising again as in the resurrection, suggesting that the love that the lovers feel for each other is like God’s love for Jesus.

The next verse touches on what commitment–the theme of the song—
really means: “Through our joy, through our pain, we can move worlds again, Take my hand, dance with me, I want to spend my lifetime loving you.

Often thought of as being the best street rapper on the East Coast, the hip hop of Jay-Z gets better with every new release. In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 came about after the death of the Notorious B.I.G. who was a close friend of Jay-z’s as well as a musical confidante. This is the second album for the rapper and shows his flashy and more commercial side to a greater extent than did his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.

In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 has a pop music sound that has received excellent reviews from critics and fans alike. The album is glossier in its sound than is his debut and the theme of the music has shifted from a classic Mafioso rap sound to more of the late 1990’s kind of hip hop that has helped defined other artists such as Puff Daddy and Mase.

The rapping of Jay-z is considered by all who love rap music to be some of the best in the music business and most definitely the best since the untimely deaths of two other well known rap artists- 2Pac (Tupac) Shakur and the aforementioned, Notorious B.I.G.

There are many songs on In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 that is sure to delight fans of this popular rapper. The song “Streets Is Watching” features lots of high tension background strings as well as some vocal samples from the movie Sleeper. “Friend or Foe ‘98” is a sequel to a song from his first album while some of his tunes are as slick as oil, such as “(Always Be My) Sunshine” which features Babyface and Foxy Brown and “I Know What Girls Like” which features none other than Lil’ Kim and Puff Daddy.

Jay-Z released In My Lifetime Volume 1 in 1997 and it is Jay-Z’s second released studio album. The stateside CD got enthusiastic reviews from music critics although his fans thought he sold out with his commercialized image. The CD is pop-oriented, moreso than his debut album Reasonable Doubt, and sold enough units to receive a Platinum certification from RIAA. It sold in excess of 1.2 million in the United States.

DJ Premier and Ski who produced Reasonable Doubt were among the multitude of producers for In My Lifetime, Volume 1. The rest of the production is done by beatmakers from Puff Daddy’s Big Boy label, resulting in a more sophisticated sound than Reasonable Doubt. In My Lifetime, Volume 1 features a shift from the gangsta rap these of his first CD to the “jiggy” era of late 90s hip-hop. Jay-Z attributes this shift to videos and CDs from Puff Daddy and his Bad Boy record label’s agenda of artists including Notorious B.I.G. and Mase.

Who is Jay-Z you may ask? His real moniker is Shawn Corey Carter, and he was born December 4, 1969. He is a businessman and American hip-hop artist. He used to be the CEO of Def Jam Recordings and Roc-a-Fella Records. He has ventured into the bar establishment as well, owning the 40/40 Club and basketball’s New Jersey Nets. He is one of the most successful and prominent hip hop artists and entrepreneurs in the States. He has the stats to prove, it, selling over 26 million copies in America alone.

When loading your mp3 file doesn’t forget to remember a couple of those love songs and ballads. Like Love of A Lifetime, by the American Rock and Roll Band, Firehouse.

Love of A Life time was written by the lead vocalist of the band, C.J. Snair. It was the bands second and highest charted single. It was released in 1991. And it’s great. It’s really no wonder that these ‘long hairs’ have stayed in the business since the eighties and have constantly and solidly ridden their wave through fame, not only here in the United States but in other countries like Asia, Japan and Singapore, even winning the 1992 American Music Awards, beating out many other popular bands of that time.

And as far as ballads go, of the first that C.J. did, this has got to be one of the best and, most likely, the one Firehouse will be remembered for. Snair wrote the song while playing solo in a Holiday Inn and when it was presented to Epic Labels it was an immediate success.

And you’ll want to download Erik Clapton’s 1989 release of Bad Love, written with Mick Jones from the band Foreigner, and the second single on the Journeyman album. with Phil Collins on the drums and singing harmony.

Anyway, Clapton also sang this song on the live album, 24 Nights, the best of 32 concerts he performed in London in 1990 and 1991. And it was this little ditty that won him the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance in 1990.

It stayed on the top of the Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart for three weeks in a row. Another group that’s a must is Shenandoah. These guys are the top of the line with songs like “I Want to Be Loved Like That” and “Two Dozen Roses.” Shenandoah has several gold albums, better than a dozen number one singles and has won numerous awards, one of which was a Grammy. And last, but certainly not least, download Alan Jackson.

Anything he does. He’s a superstar that was born in Georgia in 1958 and a country music artist with better than 40 million records to his credit. He’s one of the most popular singers of the 90’s, even being placed in the Georgia Hall of Fame in 2001.

Tons of his records have reached the Top 30 of the Billboard Country Music Chart and two dozen or more hit number one. Any selection from Alan Jackson’s collection will fit the bill and fill the mp3.

Firehouse, a “hair group” had a hit single that charted at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was released circa late 80s, early 90s and was known as Love of a Lifetime. Although it did not exactly make Firehouse a supergroup, the group did earn fans because of the single’s soft, romantic sound.

Love of a Lifetime has been chosen by betrothed couples for their wedding’s first song. The song was penned by C.J. Snare who says he inked it while doing solo gigs at a Holiday Inn. Perfect place to write a sing, isn’t it? The story goes that when the group was looking for a record label, they approached Epic executives where they presented them with their CD. The executive said that the album needed a ballad and requested one. Snare whipped out Love of a Lifetime, and the head honcho loved it and awarded the band a record deal.

The band’s image styled itself after that genre known as “hair bands” with their long manes and metallic look. Unlike other bands, Firehouse outlived the grunge era without missing a beat. C.J. Snare is the lead vocalist and keyboard player and lyricist as well. They stuck to their image while everyone else was donning flannel shirts and jeans. In 1991, they were up against Alice in Chains and Nirvana at the American Music Awards. Now, Snare quips, he is still alive. The band also survived the death of their bass player in 2003 to remain together.

The Lifetime network was started in the 1980’s, and the movies on the network were so popular, the Lifetime Movie Network spun off in the 90’s, and the world of made-for-tv movies was never the same. At any time of the day you can see original movies and miniseries that focus on women, and particularly, the issues that modern women face. The movies are meant to be inspirational and informative; if you look at a list of movies on Lifetime Movie Network, you’ll find romance, justice, documentary, and thriller, to name just a few categories.

When the network first started, it showed movies about many topics that weren’t dealt with by other networks, like abused women, women who had murdered their husbands, and women struggling with issues in the modern world. Although people joked that Tracey Gold and Meredith Baxter starred in every movie, it can’t be denied that the Lifetime Movie Network brought something to the viewing audience that wasn’t there before. And it’s gaining in popularity; the Lifetime Movie Network commercials are widely and frequently broadcast on cable television.

The recent Lifetime Network Coco Chanel miniseries was a lavishly made and star-studded movie that brought many viewers in. And the Lifetime Movie Network’s schedule during December is all Christmas movies, which is also extremely popular. For many years, October has been the Lifetime Network Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with movies, commercials, and public service announcements all focusing on breast cancer awareness.

The Lifetime Movie Network gives the viewers programming about women, for women, and from a woman’s perspective.

There’s hardly any movie buff around who doesn’t love to watch movies on Life time network, the first one of its kind premier channel solely dedicated to women featuring some of the most popular shows like, Frasier, Reba, The Golden Girls, Still Standing and Will & Grace.

Due to its overtly feminine outlook Lifetime network is also known as the Estrogen Channel on a funny note. Though it shares the A-list of viewers, one of its fierce competitors is the Oxygen channel and the WE Women’s Entertainment channels.

Life time movies network has a different movie themes keeping in toes with the occasion. Like recently it started a Holiday-themed movie from Dec 1st. till Dec 25 as part of its holiday Falalala Lifetime Holiday programming lineup.

Keeping with the flavor and humor of its women’s theme in September2008 it launched its “5 days a week” television block called Wife time television for telecast of popular shows like the Desperate Housewives and Wife swap.

Apart from its shows movies on Lifetime Movie Network are a big hit among viewers too. It first began as the Life Time Movie network in 1998 and later on got renamed as LMN in 2006.

One of its biggest features is the production of the movie on Natalie Holloway story on her disappearance in Aruba based on the book written by her mom “Loving Natalie- a Mother’s Testament of Hope and Faith”.

Based on this sensational case this movie is gaining momentum and is all set to release in 2009. If one wishes to catch a glimpse of all that’s bubbling up in Lifetime network then log on to www.mylifetime.com and get a dash of all those wonderful shows and movies full of mushy moments.

Lifetime Movie Network is a subsidiary of Lifetime TV which is the network with women in mind. From movies of love to suspense thriller, women are generally the protagonists in their movies. Often, the movies are based on real life stories which increase their appeal. Prominent Hollywood actresses such as Signourney Weaver and Lynda Carter appear in the productions. Shirley MacLaine even starred as Coco Chanel in Lifetime’s rendition of the story of the famous fashion designer.

The station not only features women protagonists but also touches on gay-themed stories and interracial drama. Sigourney Weaver stars in Prayers for Bobby a story of a mother who is a religious. She discovers her son is gay, and drives him to suicide. At least, that is how the real life drama played out. Leave it to Sigourney Weaver to play a demented mother. She will probably do a great job with her tall, imposing presence and chiseled features.

Another one of its offerings is What Color Is Love? This movie plays on the interracial theme of a racially mixed couple fighting over custody of their racially mixed child. It sounds like a variation on a theme. The idea has been produced before—Kramer vs. Kramer. So, now we have mixed couples. It will be interesting to see if any of their problems differ from a homogeneous couple that are fighting for custody. However, all bases must be covered in today’s modern world. Stay tuned for more topical issues from Lifetime Movie Network.

Lifetime Television Network, the network devoted to women, consists of old TV shows, made-for-TV movies, old movies and new TV shows. You will find old reruns of The Golden Girls, Frasier and Will and Grace as well as newer TV shows like the Army Wives.

Judging from their coming attractions, the station seems to be veering into more liberal territory. For example, Rosie O’Donnell, who has won the hearts of bleeding heart liberals, will star in America and co-produce it as well. It is about a young boy’s experiences in foster care homes.

A show in which the theme is to break stereotypes of southern belles is also on tap for the network. Any show that seeks to break a stereotype is downright progressive even by Lifetime Television’s standards.

Also on tap is Lisa Williams whose show invites audience members to partake in speaking with the dead. A psychic by any other name would smell as sweet for this network which seems to be breaking out of its mainstream style. After all, how many of our mothers approve when we spend money on psychics?

And in a radical departure of tradition where the hunter seeks the hunted for domestic bliss until eternity, Lifetime Television has planned a show in which family and friends pick out a mate for the single and lonely hearted.

Besides the arcane diet shows and old reruns, Lifetime Television Network seems poised to change with the times with its upcoming new line up.

Lifetime Television was launched on February 1984. In 1995 it was rebranded “Television for Women” thanks to corporate sales and mergers. As technology advanced, Lifetime grew and now there are a gaggle of Lifetimes for gals to watch. Specifically: the original, Lifetime Television (1984), Lifetime Movie Network (launched 1998), Lifetime Digital (1996) and Lifetime Real Women (2001).

Lifetime Television programs original and second run programs skewed toward women’s viewing tastes. According to Lifetime’s definition this appears to mean love stories where men say and do the right thing and the kids are always appreciative.
One of their recent Movies-of-the-Week (MOW) “Flirting with Forty” tells the light-hearted tale of a divorcee who takes a tropical vacation (her kids are conveniently visiting their dad) and stares her fortieth birthday down by taking on a young love. Heather Locklear stars as the “Cougar” (slang for older women who take on younger lovers). Lifetime has also produced several high profile MOWs based on Nora Roberts’ novels which garnered its highest ratings for 2007 and are sure to perform just as well when they return.

The website – www.mylifetime.com – features information about Lifetime’s programming as well as communities which offer helpful hints on how to maximize aerobic exercise and other gal talk topics. “Mama, Mia” the movie which showcases the group Abba’s music, was featured on the web – and the network’s - 2008 Ultimate Movie Preview
Since its inception, Lifetime has spawned two prominent imitators: WE Tv which has gone through several iterations since it was founded in 1997 as Romance Classics and Oxygen the much hyped Geraldine Laybourne venture which is now part of NBC Universal.
At the end of the day, I bet that even those with a “Y” chromosome will watch Lifetime if they have programming because all of us like to watch a good story.

Behind every good home is a great shed. Sheds are an incredibly functional part of an estate. Sheds typically hold garden equipment, tools, lawn furniture, pool supplies and furniture. A good shed will keep the house and garage clutter free—and provide easy access to tools and supplies when doing yard work or house repairs.

A key is to have a shed that will last a lifetime. A home is only as good as the weakest link. A good home, that will last a lifetime, requires top quality materials and workmanship. The materials used need to withstand the test of time as well as sometimes extreme weather conditions. A shed is not different. Although sheds house tools and supplies, and not humans, as does the house—as shed must be constructed with care. The tools and workmanship that are necessary for a shed to last a lifetime are similar to that of the home. Often, the shed will also match the detail, design, and architecture of the home.

Sheds that can last a lifetime will add to the beauty and the function of a home, and will also help the home and the estate increase in value. Adding a shed to a piece of property, will not only increase the value, it will also help the home sell if it is on the market. Sheds that have lifetime value are as important as a well kept yard and a properly maintained electrical system. A shed that can last a lifetime will be one of most important assets to a home and the surrounding estate.

One of the most popular shows, which has reached 3.8 million viewers, is the hit, “Army Wives,” about women living on an army base and their experiences dealing with day to day struggles. Not only does Lifetime television have original shows like “Army Wives,” but one can watch their favorite pastime broadcast series during the day and late at night. Some of these broadcast shows are “Greys Anatomy” “Desperate Housewives” and “Will and Grace”
Lifetime Movie Network started in July of 1998 and showcases movies that depict women’s struggles and life experiences.

Lifetime Real Women started in August of 2001 and is Lifetime’s third channel. This channel is dedicated to viewers that want to watch what is real to women and depicts issues every woman can relate to. On this channel, you can watch stories like biographies of heroic women.

There are certain products that are known to last a lifetime.
A hammer, for example, is a product that will typically last a lifetime. Hammers are made out of heavy-forged steel, and with their shape and function, can manage a lifetime in a toolbox.

There are several other examples of products that will last a lifetime. A diamond ring is definitely a lifetime product. And if the ring is given during marriage vows, the hope is that the marriage will also last a lifetime. Even if the marriage does not, however, the ring most likely will. Diamonds are one of the toughest materials in the world. Diamonds are carbon based, and are almost impossible to scratch. Beautiful, functional, and unbelievably strong, diamonds are an example of a lifetime product that are among the most popular.

Another lifetime product is an iron skillet. The trick with an iron skillet is that you don’t really wash it—at least not with a heavy soap. This keeps the skillet seasoned—and will make some fabulous breakfasts.

Products that last a lifetime tend to be the most useful in daily life—and the most needed and the most treasured. Hammers, diamonds, and iron skillets can be used—or at least enjoyed—on a daily basis—and will last a lifetime. It is rare in today’s consumer product climate for a product to last very long at all—let alone a lifetime. The replacement cycle for many products is getting shorter and shorter. Not with a hammer or skillet however.

Army Wives premiered on the Lifetime channel on June 3, 2007, and became one the channels most successful shows. 3.5 million Tuned in for the first episode and it is still going strong.

Based on the non-fiction book Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives by Tanya Biank, the show reveals the dark truth, which millions of families live with; having a loved one serving in war time. The show shows us much of the same trials and tribulations which the families went through in the book. It captivates, and makes you think about how these people are affected.

The show stars Kim Delaney (NYPD Blue), Catherine Bell (JAG) and Brian McNamara (The O.C.). It is about four women, whose husbands are serving the U.S. Army, their families, and a husband, whose wife is enlisted. Wives started off showing how the different families coped with their spouses leaving them, knowing that they wouldn’t be safe in a desert war. As the first season progresses, you get to see the group banding together, to get through the toughest times of their family lives.

Throughout its two season run, it has made its viewers laugh, cry, and once or twice, cringe with its real life situations. It has had us root for the newly married couple with two children, hit us over the head with suspenseful war scenes, including a hostage situation.

The show has been a break-through hit in Lifetime’s demographics (women 25-54 and 18-49) and has given the edge to compete with its prime-time rivals. It was no surprise that it was renewed for a third season, which will begin airing sometime in 2009.

These are 4 words that strike a chord in all sorts of people. Man, woman, child. When you hear the phrase “Once in a lifetime,” the possibilities are endless.
Books have been written about it, movies use the phrase in their trailers, songs base their subjects on it.

In reality, what do we really know about the words? Is once in a lifetime even possible? Isn’t everything that you do for the first time a once in a lifetime occurrence? You tie your shoe for the first time once in a lifetime.
Your first kiss? Once in a lifetime. The first time you fall in love? Yup.Once in a lifetime.

Is this just a misnomer though? Is life really not once in a lifetime? One might feel that once in a lifetime happens daily.
Talking Heads wrote a song entitled, Once In A Lifetime. It sold millions. The chorus is: “And you may ask yourself, How do I work this? And you may ask yourself, Where is that large automobile? And you may tell yourself, This is not my beautiful house! And you may tell yourself, This is not my beautiful wife!” These lyrics make you think.

They make you question life. Or do they? Are we setting ourselves up for a fall if we base our ideas on such an archaic phrase? Are we idealizing the unattainable? Maybe we are but doesn’t it make life that much easier to deal with this way? Isn’t everything once in a lifetime?

Lifetime airs both original and syndicated programming. Throughout its existence, the channel has aired and produced programs ranging from sitcoms, formats, one-hour dramas, and specials; all aimed to showcase women’s stories and women leads.

Among its most popular original productions are “The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd”, starring Blair Brown, “Strong Medicine”, which was produced by Whoopi Goldberg, and currently, “Army Wives”, starring Kim Delaney, which has propelled the network to a higher profile, by becoming the first #1 cable drama in the history of the network.

Lifetime Original Movies are a big part of the networks content and have been very successful for this basic cable channel. Among its top original movies are “Almost Golden”, “The Fantasia Barrino Story” (an American Idol past winner), “Coco Chanel”, starring Shirley MacLaine, and “The Memory Keeper’s Daughter”, which attracted an audience of six million viewers.

Lifetime TV has also tried its production hand at game show and reality formats with the shows “Shop ‘Til You Drop”, which was named one of the 50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time by the Game Show Network, and the reality show “What Will You Do?”, hosted by Leeza Gibbons. It is currently producing the original sitcom, “Rita Rocks”, which depicts the life of a modern woman, trying to balance home life and work. The channel is also well known for its syndication programming by re-airing major network’s shows like “Frasier”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Will & Grace”, “Reba”, and “The Golden Girls”.

Lifetime continues to grow as it cements its commitment to quality and women-relevant programming.

Today I swam in the ocean. I wasn’t worried that it felt a lot colder as I got in…I pressed on anyway.

I wasn’t worried that the waves pushed at me, which never happens in the pool.

I was a little frustrated that there was not a single stripe anywhere in the ocean so I would know if I was swimming straight, which I was not.

And what’s up with the waves…do they have to appear every time I come up for air? I had been practicing freestyle swimming almost exclusively, which I found to be almost useless in the ocean.

I’ll need to either get a lot better or plan on swimming the 1/2 mile doing the backstroke or sidestroke.

It took almost exactly 1/2 hour to swim about 1/3 of a mile, which is a rough estimate based on how far we’d driven in the car and how far apart the life guard stations were.

It took only 5 minutes to jog that same distance back to my towel. I bet I could have done it faster if little kids and people throwing frisbees did not get in the way.

Kids and frisbees should not be allowed at the beach. And triathlons should be done in a pool…with stripes on the bottom…and no waves.

You’ve probably guessed that today’s “lifetime fitness triathlon update” is not so much of an enthusiastic update as a whining session. I would have called it a bitching session, but that would probably be inappropriate.

“Tempted” ~ A Lifetime Movie (premiered March 10th, 2003) on the Lifetime Network.

Virginia Madsen plays successful Attorney Emma Burke. Emma, like so many contemporary women that play the leads in other Lifetime Movies, has the unenviable full-time job of raising a family; dealing with all the tasks & responsibilities of running a household and taking care of her hectic and demanding business. So, when the opportunity suddenly arises to go to Hawaii on business, Emma garbs the bull by the horns to get away from her home, family and job.

But this trip to the Islands is no pleasure trip. As a long-forgotten promise of fulfillment to her now deceased Hawaiian-born Surrogate Mother, Emma must escort her Mother’s ashes to Hawaii for a “Kamaaina” (meaning traditional Hawaiian) burial ceremony.

Leaving her husband Mike (played by Andrew McFarlane) back in Boston with the unpleasant and unfamiliar (to him) task of dealing with their two kids, Emma flies off to the Land of Aloha and Blue Hawaiian cocktails. Arriving in the 50th State for the first time since she was a young girl Emma is shocked when she meets Kala (played by Jason Momoa), the extremely good-looking son of her recently deceased surrogate Mother.

Thus the Title of the film comes into play as Emma is indeed “tempted” and quickly falls in love (or Lust) with handsome Kala… and the feelings are mutual. Their adulterous honeymoon soon ends when Hubby Mike suddenly shows up unexpectedly with the kids. The soap opera plot gets ridiculously complicated with the absurd additions of two sub-plots involving an evil land developer and the mysterious circumstances involving Emma’s biological mother.

Lifetime tables are made of state-of-the art materials such as plastic, resin and steel frames. Some examples of Lifetime Brands include Advantage, Accent, Triumph, DuraStyle and Versalite. Most lifetime tables are stain resistant, easy to maintain and come with a 10 year warranties from the manufacturer and surpass all BIFMA standards.

Lifetime tables have many uses and can be utilized in all aspects of life. They are utilized by businesses, airports, churches, parties, restaurants, and family reunions. The come in all shapes and sizes and are very portable. They can be used for scrapbooking or other home use activities like sewing, writing papers, doing paperwork, assembling, and other household uses. Uses for lifetime tables are only limited by your hobbies and imagination.

If you have a stamp collection or coin collection, spread them across the lifetime table. They provide flat surfaces on which to work. Lifetime tables are also suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

You can take a lifetime table with you on your next picnic. Spread out the food on top of it, and you have a simulated dais just like in a catering hall. Indoors, if you expect a lot of people for Thanksgiving you can throw a tablecloth on top of it, and you have room for a lot of people.

Square lifetime tables are perfect for card games. Just unfold four legs and it accommodates four people for cards. Again, you can place it indoors or outdoors. With its technologically advanced elements, Lifetime tables can brave a surprise storm or a spilt drink.

In My Lifetime, Vol. 1, released on November 4, 1997, is Jay-Z’s second released studio album. The American album got rave reviews from music critics but his fans were disappointed in it, believing he sold out for commercial interests. The CD has a much more pop sound to it than his debut release Reasonable Doubt and continued to receive a Platinum certification from RIAA, selling more than 1.2 million stateside.

DJ Premier and Ski produced Reasonable Doubt and were among the many producers for In My Lifetime Volume 1. The majority of the production is done by beatmakers from Puff Daddy’s Bib Boy label, resulting in a glossier sound than Reasonable Doubt. It features a shift from the Mafioso rap theses of his first effort to the “jiggy” era of late 90s hip-hop. He credits this shift to videos and CDs from Puff Daddy and his Bad Boy record label’s roster of artists including Notorious B.I.G and Mase.

Who is Jay-Z you may ask? Jay-Z’s real name is Shawn Corey Carter and he was born December 4, 1969. He is an American hip-hop artist and businessman. He was formerly the CEO of Def Jam Recordings and Roc-a-Fella Records. He has ventured into the bar business as well, owning the 40/40 Club and the New Jersey Nets. He is one of the most successful hip hop artists and entrepreneurs in the United States. He has the statistics to prove it, selling over 26 million units in America alone.

The group Firehouse styled itself into that genre of rock bands called “hair bands.” They had long manes and borrowed the image from metal bands. They managed to outlive the grunge era clinging on to their image steadfastly. They toured the States in 2005. Love of a Lifetime is Firehouse’s hit single starting at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. It did not make them superstars, but did win them some new fans because of its sultry, romantic tune.

Love of a Lifetime is a love ballad that is so pure it is embraced by couples as their first song to be used on the wedding day. The song was written by C.J. Snare, legend has it, in a Holiday Inn after doing a solo gig. What happened was that the band was shopping around for a record label, and when they played the demo tape for the Epic Records executive, he said it needed a love song to be complete. Snare penned Love of a Lifetime, and the group got the deal.

C.J. Snare is the lead vocalist and keyboard player and lyricist as well. Back in 1991, they were up against Alice in Chains and Nirvana at the American Music Awards. Now, Snare muses, he is still alive. They also managed to stay together after the death of their bass player in 2003.

We can learn a lesson from Firehouse. If you stick to your guns and stay with the style you believe in, you will outlive fads and be embraced.

Lifetime Television is to women what Disney Channel is to families. It features made-for-TV movies and TV shows about modern women and the problems that they face. Not only modern women, but also women of history are featured such as the movie CoCo that starred Shirley MacLaine as Coco Chanel. Do not think of Lifetime TV as feminist because it is not. Its target audience is mainstream women across America. Let us examine what it has scheduled for this month to determine its genre.

Reba is a weekly show starring Reba McIntyre, the renowned country singer turned actress. She plays a single Mom trying to support her family. Single Moms are not as rare as they were in the 50s and 60s. The fact that Lifetime makes a TV show about it is tantamount to acceptance by society of such a lifestyle. It is not the norm, but it is not as sinful and deviant as it once was.

The movie Irresistible starring Susan Sarandon portrays a woman who feels threatened by another woman who, she thinks, is out to steal her husband and family. As women in society we have often felt threatened and have had to compete with other women. However, in this case her perceived threat results in a case of paranoia and obsession. Again, not a feminist perspective but one that turns the movie in what could be serious into a suspense thriller.

Prayers for Bobby, starring Sigourney Weaver, centers around a religious zealot mother who once she finds out her son is gay, drives him to suicide. Is this just another case of blaming the mother for everything or is she really guilty? Dealing with this issue is certainly a step forward for Lifetime Television and TV in general.
