Lifetime Army Wives
Army Wives is a television drama that premiered on Lifetime Television on Sunday
June 3, 2007. This premier was the largest viewed original drama series in Lifetime’s history. The drama is based on author Tanya Biank non-fiction book “Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives.
The series is currently in its second season. Andrea Wong CEO of Lifetime announced on July11, 2008 that the series had been picked up for a third season based on its continued ratings success for network. In its short time on the air is has been nominated for 4 ASCAP (The American Society if Composers, Authors and Publishers) awards and won all of them.
The series is set on the fictional Army post Fort Marshall in Charleston , South Carolina and centers around the ups and downs and ins and outs of 5 Army wives and their ever growing and changing friendship and lives.. The main characters are Roxy (Sally Pressman), Claudia (Kim Delaney), Denise (Catherine Bell), Pamela (Brigid Brannagh), and Joan (Wendy Davis). The drama deals with a lot of problems that everyday people deal with in their everyday lives. This is believed to be why it has such a loyal devoted audience. The audience both men and women see themselves in these characters and understand the continuous conflicts, desires, temptations, happiness , and sadness that these characters are constantly challenged to deal with on a weekly basic.
If you have missed out on the first and second season and would like to catch up. The complete first season was released on DVD on March 2, 2008. The second season just ended on January 9, 2009 and no DVD release date has been announced but you can catch the replays on Lifetime.
